The U.S. Central Command has officially launched a push to address the fate of camps and prisons in northeast Syria where the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) hold ISIS fighters and their families.

With Qatari support, the United States has revived its long-standing efforts to recover the remains of American citizens killed by ISIS in Syria since 2014.

Negotiations between the Syrian state and the SDF focus on integration, ISIS detainees, and regional cooperation amid funding and repatriation challenges.
